Asia's premier aircraft and defence exhibition, the Aero India Show, has always been a much-awaited event for the aviation industry and its potential customers alike. The first Aero India Show was held in Bangalore in the year 1996. The history of Aero India Show highlights the various aerospace shows that have taken place in the past.
The first Aero India Show received a good response in terms of the number of participants and visitors to the event and this paved the way for a number of such shows in India. This fact was reaffirmed in the 4th edition of the Aero India Show that was held in 2003. This event saw the participation of around 176 exhibitors from 22 countries from around the world. The event received high-level delegations from several countries like USA, Europe, Russia, Middle East, Asia-Pacific and Africa, to name a few.
History of Aero India Show suggests that the number of participants continued to increase with every Show. The 5th edition of the Aero India Show held in the year 2005 witnessed the participation of around 380 companies consisting of some world-famous producers of civil and military aircrafts and other service providers of aerospace and airfield upgrade.
The show included static exhibits of the latest aircrafts and various live air displays by a number of fighter jets, advanced light helicopters and maritime surveillance aircrafts. The Indian Air Force and Indian Navy also took part at the Aero India 2005 along with nearly 32 military delegations from various countries.
The next Aero India Show is scheduled to take place from February 7-11, 2007 at the Yelahanka Air Force Base in Bangalore. In fact, Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka has hosted all the past India Air Shows till now and is also the venue for the 2007 Aero India Show.
